April 3, 2014 - Boston, MA -- Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital hosted a dedication reception on Thursday, April 3rd at the hospital’s flagship location in Charlestown, where 32 of the Boston Marathon bombing survivors went for rehabilitative care and many still come for outpatient care and support. Survivors, first responders, families, clinicians, corporate leaders and local celebrities such as Matt Light and New England Patriot Rob Ninkovich joined together for an exclusive unveiling of the powerful painting “Endurance” donated to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital by celebrity artist, Brian Fox. The marathon prelude event honored the perseverance of survivors and their families, celebrated Boston Strong, recognized Spaulding’s expertise and showcased Fox’s tribute piece.

Long-time Boston Marathon commentator and WBZ-TV News Anchor, Lisa Hughes emceed the ceremony. David E. Storto, President of Partners Continuing Care and Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, marathon survivor Heather Abbott and Steve Pagliuca, Boston Celtics Managing General Partner, a Bain Capital Managing Director, and ONE Fund supporter offered remarks and individual perspectives as we approach the one year anniversary of the 2013 Boston Marathon.

Marathon Survivor Heather Abbott said to the attendees, “I can’t tell you how much this piece means to me and will mean to the others who lost their limbs last April. It truly represents what happened to us and how far we have all come. It is a true symbol of our resilience, the City’s support and our collective ability to ‘cross the finish line’. When others come through the doors of Spaulding feeling down and hopeless this painting will remind them hope exists.”

The wonderful folks at Framing Concepts set up a great night of music, food, and the artwork of Brian Fox. The quaint south shore town of Hingham, MA was a beautiful setting for Brian's latest art gallery opening on Saturday evening. Folks came from miles around to check out over 20 of Brian's paintings, and some left with an iconic piece of art to add to their collection. There was a great Main Street vibe with a live band playing on the sidewalk in front of the gallery.

If anyone is interested in checking out Brian's artwork from the show it will be hanging at Framing Concepts through the end of October.

When Somerset artist Brian Fox painted his moving tribute to the late Myra Kraft, little did he know he was creating an inspirational talisman that would go all the way to Super Bowl XLVI with the New England Patriots.

“I know that it is a very special piece,” Fox told the Track. “But I think what really makes it special, is that it came from the players’ hearts.”

Fox’s painting, which depicts a gaggle of Patriots, pointing skyward towards the now-iconic MHK patch, has sat in the team locker room at Gillette Stadium

Robert Kraft is presented a painting the team had done in memory of Myra Kraft.
for every game since the team presented it to owner Robert Kraft on Christmas Eve. The Patriots haven’t lost since.

“I heard that when they were down 21 to nothing to Buffalo, Mr. Kraft told his assistant to go get the painting and put it in the locker room,” the artist said.

As you know, Tom Brady [stats] & Co. came back to win that one 49-21. So it should come as no surprise that the painting will be traveling to Lucas Oil Stadium for the final game, the Feb. 5 Super throwdown with the New York Giants. Because, in a season dedicated to the memory of Myra Kraft, Fox’s work reminds the team whom they are playing for.

Brian Fox, a local sports and celebrity artist of national renown, donated a one of a kind painting depicting Mark Wahlberg in “The Fighter” to the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation. The painting, unveiled and autographed by Wahlberg at his Celebrity Golf Tournament Pre-Event Party, is the product of over 100 hours of work.

The Pre-Event Party took place June 24 at Tasty Burger on Boylston Street. Proceeds directly benefit the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to improving the lives of inner city youth through a working partnership with other organizations.

Fox, who is practiced in painting both sports figures and celebrities, found depicting Wahlberg in his role as legendary fighter Micky Ward to be both a satisfying combination of his two subjects and a wonderful way to contribute to the community.

Fox notes that in addition to respecting Wahlberg for his incredible acting talent, he is also has a great appreciation for his continued commitment to to his local roots and the community that defined his childhood.

On working in Boston, Fox states, “I enjoy working as an artist in this area. I have been extremely fortunate to paint many athletes from all over the world, but I do enjoy when the opportunity arrives to paint the Boston teams.”

Fox described the donation of the painting as one of the high points of his career, noting, “I feel blessed and thankful to be able to do this for a living, and to work with athletes, celebrities and organizations to give back as much as I can.”
